A look back at the 2025 Miata Trophy season

16 December 2025

2025 saw Aidan Hills become the third different Miata Trophy Champion in as many years, after a standout season for the Hills Motorsport driver.

Hills mustered an impressive number of race wins over the course of the season, while there were maiden victories for drivers such as James Cossins and Tyler Mcalpin.

Eleven different Mk3 drivers took to the podium over the course of the season, highlighting the competitiveness of the championship.

Only on one occasion were the top two finishers in a race separated by more than five seconds, with the majority of winning margins less than two seconds. Oulton Park proved especially exciting as both races finished with less than 0.162s separating the leading two cars.

In fact, in Round 10, Hills edged Will Morris to the checkered flag by just 0.066s!

It wasn’t just at the front where action could be found either. Throughout the often bumper grids was a whole host of close-quarter battling, with plenty of competitors demonstrating fantastic overtakes and resolute defending.

The championship raced across all three of Great Britain’s active Grand Prix circuits, while also forming part of the on-track billing at Cadwell Park’s feature Cult Classics event.

Excitement for 2026 is already building, with a new control tyre and extended 16-round provisional calendar heavily contributing to the anticipation.

Will there be a fourth different Miata Trophy Champion next year?
