Round 11 & 12 - Event Report

Rounds 11 & 12

Miata Trophy headed to Oulton Park for Rounds 11 & 12 of the 2026 Championship.

Qualifying:

Separated by just 0.005 seconds, #24 Hills Motorsport driver James Cossins narrowly clinched pole position from his Hills Motorsport teammate, #36 Max Brown. In third was Oliver Allwood in the #63 AB Motorsport MX-5, posting a time just two tenths behind Cossins, with previous Miata Trophy Champion Aidan Hills right behind him in the #1 MX-5 MK4.

Race 1:

Cossins initially converted his pole position to an early lead but faced pressure from Brown behind! Hills remained in striking distance a further two tenths behind, having passed Allwood. By lap 3, Aidan Hills had made a move stick to take the race lead from Cossins to place his MK4 at the front of the field.

Allwood quickly redeemed his position back on the podium on lap 3 passing Max Brown, to make the running order Hills, Cossins, and Allwood as Jack Brewer sat fourth.  

When the chequered flag went out, it was 2025 champion Aidan Hills who managed to keep the field behind to take the win. Cossins finished just a tenth behind to take second place, Brewer’s pace paying dividends as he was able to claim the final podium position and the fastest lap of a 1:57:422!

In fourth was Max Brown with Declan Lee rounding up the top five after a fierce front running battle for the top five. The master’s class win went to Damon Wellman in the #88 Fillies Mazda, as he had managed to keep fellow class runners David Robinson #46 and Simon Fleet #55 behind!

Race 2:

Race 2, saw the top fifteen line up in reverse order. Elliot Lettis in the #3 car led the field off the line, with #88 Damon Wellman behind in second and #26 Drew Fletcher in third. By the end of lap 1, #12 Declan Lee had made moved up into fourth after starting tenth on the grid, with Brewer and Allwood in tow.

By lap 6, the order had changed, with Allwood moving into second, putting Lettis under pressure for the lead. Lee remained firmly in podium contention with Jack Brewer and Aidan Hills closing in behind.

When the chequered flag fell, it was Allwood who took the victory ahead of Jack Brewer who took his second podium of the day, while Aidan Hills managed to slip past Declan Lee to claim the final podium position, setting the fastest lap in the process.

In the Masters category, David Robinson took the honours in the #46 Mazda, while the MX-5 Owners Club Driver of the Day award went to returning driver Aidan Hills, who impressed the club members in attendance.
