The Miata Trophy finale at Brands Hatch brings the 2026 season to a close in style on Saturday 14th November, as part of the final race meeting of the Brands Hatch centenary year!
The title battle comes down to Hills Motorsport teammates: #24 James Cossins, who arrives at Brands Hatch with one hand already on the title, and 2023 champion #12 Declan Lee, who remains mathematically in contention!
Cossins will return to Brands Hatch full of confidence, having claimed a double victory there on the Grand Prix circuit earlier in the season. However, Lee is no stranger to success on championship finale day, having claimed the 2023 crown with a victory on the Indy circuit. Victory alone may not be enough for the second-placed driver, though, as Cossins holds a commanding lead heading into the decider.
The battle for third in the championship is also far from over, with Oliver Allwood and John Langridge both fighting to secure the final podium spot in the overall standings. Allwood arrives in strong form after claiming reverse-grid race victories at both Oulton Park and Snetterton. However, Langridge, a former Miata Trophy champion, brings plenty of experience into the final round.
Tyler McAlpin, in the #10 car, will also be one to watch, having previously won at the Brands Hatch Indy championship finale by taking victory in the final race of the 2025 season.
The Masters Trophy remains closely contested, with just one point separating #88 Damon Wellman and #46 David Robinson, although Robinson still has a score to drop. Wellman arrives on the back of consecutive Masters Class victories at Snetterton and will be hoping to carry that form into the Brands Hatch finale.
The MX-5 Owners Club will also be in attendance, keeping an eye out for its Driver of the Day. With the Brands Hatch Indy circuit often producing exciting battles and impressive comeback drives, there should be plenty of opportunities for drivers to catch the eye.
The 2026 championship finale won’t just decide the Miata Trophy champion; as the final round of the Brands Hatch centenary year, it will also crown the last MX-5 race winner at Brands Hatch in its first 100 years!
