Round 13 & 14 - Event Report

15 October 2026

Miata Trophy returned to the Snetterton 300 circuit for the penultimate championship round on Saturday 10 October!

Qualifying:

After a close qualifying session it was Declan Lee who took pole in the #12 Hills Motorsport MX-5, ahead of Oliver Allwood second in the #63 AB Motorsport MX-5, and current championship leader James Cossins in the #24 Hills Motorsport MX-5 third, as less than seven tenths of a second separated the top five.

Race 1:

As the lights went out, it was Lee leading Allwood into turn one, with Cossins under pressure from John Langridge in the #5 Project 29:7 car behind. Allwood not satisfied with second on the road maximised his run down the Bentley Straight to sweep up the inside of Lee into the Brundle and Nelson complex, taking the race lead on the opening lap. Lee continued to apply pressure, with the lead changing hands several times over the opening laps.

Cossins remained firmly in contention in third however, patiently waiting for an opportunity to strike. That patience ultimately paid off as Cossins lined up a run down the start/finish straight into an attack into Turn One, edging ahead of Allwood now second, at the apex to find himself side-by-side with Lee for the race lead.

Just behind Langridge and Brewer stayed hot on the leaders’ heels, keeping within a second of the front group.

Lee, Cossins, and Allwood continued the three-way battle for the lead, trading positions in a flurry of overtakes that Lee ultimately got the best of, holding off Cossins, Allwood and now Langridge to take a close fought win. Cossins held on for second, and Allwood stayed ahead of Langridge for third.

Drew Fletcher in the #26 Hills Motorsport MX-5 set the fastest lap, securing a season-best result of fifth, while Damon Wellman claimed the Masters win in the #88 Fillies Mazda.

Race 2:

With the top 15 from qualifying reversed for Race 2, it was David Robinson started from pole in the #46 Misty Racing MX-5, alongside Neil Bullen in the #76 Hills Motorsport car. Masters’ championship leader Damon Wellman lined up behind in the #88 Fillies Mazda, looking to gain valuable points in the Masters Trophy.

As the lights went out it was Elliot Lettis, in the #3 Lettis Racing MX-5 who got off the line best, challenging for the lead into turn one, from the third row of the grid. Lettis made the move stick at the Wilson hairpin, before opening a gap to the chasing pack.

In that pack were Masters rivals Bullen, Wellman, and Robinson whose early battle was eventually broken up by a charging Allwood, who first took Robinson, then Bullen and eventually Wellman to claim second place on the road.

Allwood, now in clear air, started the chase to close down Lettis out front, eventually catching the #3 MX-5 and making the pass into the Wilson hairpin.

Langridge, followed by Cossins also started making his way through the pack, climbing to second past Lettis just one lap after Allwood. Cossins made a similar move one lap later to round out the top three.

Further back, Tyler McAlpin maintained a consistent run to fifth, battling both Lee and Max Brown in the #36 car.

The top three found themselves together again in the closing stages, with Allwood leading the three-way battle at the front. Despite a strong challenge from Langridge, then Cossins, Allwood held on to win the second race of the day by less than one tenth of a second from Cossins. Langridge finishing third a further half second behind.

Declan Lee finished fourth, and with it kept his championship aspirations alive, while Drew Fletcher again secured fifth. Damon Wellman made it two Masters victories, adding another important result to his 2026 class campaign.

Championship finale:

Cossins heads to the Brands Hatch season finale leading the championship but Lee remains a mathematical contender, with the chance to become the first double Miata Trophy champion in history! Just 41 points separate Allwood and Langridge in the fight for third overall, setting up another battle at the finale!
