Anticipation is high for the next two rounds of the Miata Trophy season.
On Saturday 2 May, the competitive Mazda MX-5 championship will support GT World Challenge Europe on the historic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, giving competitors the opportunity to race for the podium trophies on the same weekend that motorsport legend Valentino Rossi will.
Any race on the extended circuit configuration in Kent is special. Sharp elevation changes and iconic sweeping corners add plenty in the way of both challenge and excitement, with driver precision and commitment required.
To add to the occasion, this coming GT World Challenge meeting is a highlight event within the Brands Hatch ‘Century of Power’ calendar – a programme designed to showcase and commemorate the circuit’s 100th anniversary as a competitive sporting venue.
Amongst those who will be looking to make it a day to remember is James Cossins. The Hills Motorsport driver has been in fantastic form so far in 2026 and currently leads the championship standings, but expect fierce competition for the podium places.
Cossins’ teammate Declan Lee and Project 29:7 Racing driver John Langridge know what it takes to succeed in Miata Trophy, winning the overall Championship in 2023 and 2024 respectively. Both will be looking to take the challenge to Cossins at Brands Hatch, as will the likes of: Oliver Allwood, Tyler Mcaplin and Jack Brewer amongst others.
Around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit last time out, Cossins shared the spoils with 2025 Champion Aidan Hills. Each driver secured a race win, with less than one second splitting the pair across the finish line after both races – highlighting just how close and competitive the racing in Miata Trophy can be.
Expect plenty of battling throughout the field, as drivers vie for those all-important championship points.
You’re not going to want to miss this one!
