Sunday 30th April 2023 - the date Miata Trophy kickstarts its debut season!
Anticipation for the opening round is high, as all are excited to catch their first glimpses of Miata Trophy’s NA Class (for Mk1 chassis) and NC Class (for Mk3 and 3.5 chassis) Mazda MX-5 battling it out across the prestigious Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit, on a single grid. Achieving a podium finish on the Grand Prix configuration will always be a highly impressive achievement and there will be an additional bonus for Miata Trophy podium finishers at this meeting, as they will forever etch themselves into the championship’s history books as the first-ever teams to do so!
Brands Hatch Grand Prix’s unique combination of dips, cambers, fearsome corners and hills mean that it is still one of the world's favourite racing circuits and one that will test and challenge both driver and machine. Countless legendary competitors have competed and won at the circuit over the decades, including: Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Barry Sheene, Jack Brabham, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Jenson Button, Carl Fogarty and Lewis Hamilton. On the 30th April, it’s turn for Miata Trophy competitors to add their name to the prestigious list – gaining all-important championship points in the process.
Aside from the excitement of two highly competitive sprint races, we expect the inaugural Miata Trophy SuperPole session will make for an exhilarating watch, as the fastest qualifiers contest a winner-takes-all shootout for the honour of being Miata Trophy’s first polesitter.
Both on and off track, it promises to be an exceptional year of racing with Miata Trophy and we can’t wait for it to get started!
