Rounds 3 & 4 Preview

Rounds 3 & 4 Preview

24 April 2024

Rounds three and four of the 2024 Miata Trophy season are set to be special for a number of reasons. Not only does the championship return to the circuit which hosted the inaugural Miata Trophy race, but it does so as part of the support package for one of Brands Hatch’s premier events - Fantatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered By AWS.

Miata Trophy competitors will battle it out across two action-packed sprint races, on the Saturday, of a weekend that sees megastar drivers such as Valentino Rossi compete. Racing on the historic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit is a special occasion and to be doing so as part of the venue’s signature international event will provide a truly memorable occasion for Miata Trophy competitors.

If the racing at Silverstone for this year’s season opener is anything to go by, we should be in for a highly competitive day of racing at Brands Hatch. At the Northamptonshire circuit, a different driver topped each of the day’s four sessions - including two Hills Motorsport drivers claiming their maiden Miata Trophy victories, Nicholas Stott and Daniel Parrans-Smith. Both drivers were pushed all the way to victory by a number of different competitors, providing a fantastic spectacle for the spectators in attendance. Expect more of the same in Kent, as drivers duke it out for both points and trophies on a circuit, virtually unchanged from its halcyon days of hosting Formula 1.

Recap all the action from Silverstone with our comprehensive race report here.

After the opening two rounds, a mere three points separate the top three in the championship standings. Nicholas Stott leads the way, but with both reigning Champion Declan Lee and Daniel Parrans-Smith hot on his heels. Who will be leading the way after Brands Hatch? Only time will tell.

Full championship standings can be found here.

SuperPole once again proved a tremendous watch last time out, continuing in the same form that Miata Trophy has become accustomed too. With the top five qualifiers in each class heading out for a one-lap pole position shootout, it’s up to which driver can best hold their nerve and deliver a lap time worthy of the front of the grid. At Silverstone, Miller Motorsport’s John Langridge saw off rivals to become the first polesitter of the season. Will the #5 driver be able to replicate this feat at Brands Hatch?

One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to find out.
